NWDP 2009 Launch - River Cruise on Swan River and tour of Fremantle!

Come and join us all in celebrating the start of National Week of Deaf People 2009. We will be boarding a cruise boat from Perth to Fremantle and going on an accessible tour of Fremantle!

Where: Barrack Street Jetty, Perth

Time: 9:45am - 4pm

Optional: Can meet at the Deaf Community Centre at 9am to catch CAT

bus as a group

Cost: $23 per person WAAD Members FREE!

Kings Park Family Fun Day

What could be better than a day out in the crisp spring sunshine, with your family and friends. An Auslan friendly environment for all to gether together and have fun!

An Aboriginal guest speaker will share some stories & culture!

Where: Grass Tree Lawns, Synergy Playgrounds, Kings Park

The Grammar Disc Launch!

The Grammar Disc will be officially launched on Monday 12 October from 5pm to 6pm at the Deaf Community Centre, 46/5 Aberdeen Street, East Perth.

The Grammar Disc is a multimedia learning resource developed in Auslan for Deaf people to improve their workplace reading and writing skills in English.

Deafhood & Teamwork @ Norway!

Workshops by Drisana Levitzke-Gray who attended the recent World Federation of the Deaf Junior Youth Camp in Norway. She will share presentations about Deafhood, Deaf culture and teamwork from the camp.

Where: Deaf Community Centre, 46/5 Aberdeen Street, East Perth

Time: 6:30pm - 9:30pm

Deaf Seniors & Deaf School Students - Lawnbowls Fun Day!

Deaf Seniors will have the opportunity to share a favourite pastime with Deaf school students! A fun morning with a delicious lunch provided! This will be an opportunity for students to be mentored by Deaf Seniors, develop teambuilding skills and gain additional insight to Deaf culture and language.

Where: Nollamara Sports and Recreation Centre, Lemana Road, Nollamara

Captioned Movie - "Mao's Last Dancer"

"Mao's Last Dancer" is a true story, a drama based on the autobiography by Li Cunxin. At the age of 11, Li was plucked from a poor Chinese village by Madame Mao's cultural delegates and taken to Beijing to study ballet.

May the Best Sporting Team Win VII

Teams of 4 will compete in a range of all age friendly games and activities. Come along and have some silly fun! Prizes to be won. This is a night of guaranteed fun-filled laughter and camaraderie!

Teams of 4 should have the following: 1 Deaf, 1 hearing, 1 Senior & 1 Youth.

Register your team or your name soon as possible! If you dont have a team, let us know and we will put you in a team! There is a maximum of 10 teams.
